From Gaps to Growth: How Boddle Helps Students Catch Up and Stay Engaged

Keeping Students Motivated and On Track with Boddle

Chronic absences are a growing challenge in schools across the country, with many students missing key days of instruction throughout the year. Even a few missed days can add up—impacting learning, confidence, and classroom routines. Jessika Daabout, a second-grade math and science teacher in Katy, Texas, has found an unexpected ally in addressing this challenge: Boddle Learning.

“The students are engaged when playing Boddle—and they ask to play it all the time,” she says.

Creating Incentives for Attendance and Focus

The Challenge:

Like many teachers, Jessika faced the challenge of keeping students motivated and on track when attendance was inconsistent. Missed days can interrupt learning and make it harder for students to stay confident and connected. She wanted a tool that could support all learners—whether they were in class every day or making up missed work.

The Solution:

Jessika began using Boddle both as an incentive and an instructional tool. Students know that once they complete their work, they can play Boddle—which keeps them motivated and focused. When students need a break from other programs, she turns to Boddle as a fun, educational brain break that still keeps the learning going.

The platform’s built-in video lessons and assignment features are especially useful. Jessika uses them to reinforce concepts she’s already taught in class, and when students are absent, she can assign missed skills so they don’t fall behind.

“I love how easy it is to assign work that’s aligned with our state standards,” she says. “It helps me target exactly what my students need.”

The Impact:

  • Motivated Learners: Students stay focused during class because they know they’ll get to use Boddle once they finish their work.
  • Educational Breaks: Boddle serves as a fun brain break that still supports learning—perfect for switching things up in the classroom.
  • Closing Learning Gaps: For students who are absent, Boddle helps bridge the gap with targeted assignments and easy-to-follow video support.

Josh’s Advice for New Boddle Users:

“Just do it! Students are engaged and they want to learn. They need a variety of enrichments to be successful.”
